Happy New Year!

New Year, new year resolutions right? WRONG! Everyone knows resolutions don't work. We need to make goals and break down the steps needed to acheive those goals. We need to focus on that goal and take action each day on the path to success.

A common example: Lose weight or x number of pounds by x date. For the most part when people make this new year resolution they:

1. Change the way they eat for 2-3 weeks maybe a month
2. Join a gym and go consistently for 2-3 months then flow back into old patterns.
You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
― John C. Maxwell
Set goals not New Year resolutions and during this process, change something you do on a daily basis to change your life. That's the key to reaching and achieve your goals.
My top two goals this year are to transform my health and published my second kids book. Both achievable with the 1st goal being most difficult.

Overall I am fairly healthy, but I am not where I want to be. I walk everyday and eat fairly clean, but if I see Dark Chocolate, Pizza or Ice Cream or a Dark Stout, forget about it! :)
I started revamping my diet and my goal is to cut out sugar and alcohol. In addition to making a change in my diet, I created a better workout routine to help reach and achieve this goal. My wife and I currently walk (almost) everyday but I am not getting the cardio that I need so I started adding that to my daily activities as well as some weight training activities.

In regards to my new kids book, My goal is to publish and sell 10,000 copies by December 31, 2016. Which I now realize is a lofty goal because from my understanding of the publishing space, if they like it, it may take a year or two to actually get published. Nonetheless, that is the goal I set and I am sticking to it! A better goal here might be, sell 10,000 copies from the date of publication.

So far, I have written the copy and created a few illustrations. Next steps is having the content edited and creating my manuscript to mail out. I am really excited about this next book! I will keep you posted.

I have many more goals but those are just a few I have set for 2016.

What goals are you going to set this year?
How are you going to map out your plan for success in 2016?

Post your comments I would love to hear from you.
