A few weeks ago my wife and I went on a great adventure, we on a road trip down the East Coast of the United States and went as far as Washington, D.C.. We made stops in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Philadelphia! It was quite fun and met some interesting people along the way! We are looking forward to our next adventure across the country.
Two places we stopped at during our trip were aquariums in CT and MD. Thankfully my wife wanted to stop because I would have missed out on a wicked good time.
The first visit was to the Mystic Aquarium. We were able to see Beluga Whales, Penguins, touch Stingrays, and Sharks! Then there were jellyfish, this was one of my favorites spots to visit. Once I saw the jellyfish, all I saw was art! I started to take photos because jellyfish are so mesmerizing! I knew I wanted to turn these photos into jellyfish wall art to display in my home! I got some pretty good pictures and wanted to share them with anyone and everyone that admires the beauty of jellyfish.
After taking some time to watch these sea animals, I thought about making some jellyfish art using watercolors or paint! I am looking forward to setting aside some time to work on this.

It's a cute story about a girl that wants to find starfish at the ocean. It's an ocean book for kids that discusses leaving animals in their natural habitat and also has activities at the back of the book for kids to enjoy!

The great thing is, I am not the only one that was born to do this. There are many artists that are creating wicked funny pieces of art. A couple of artists I follow are: Matthew Inman, creator of The Oatmeal and Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert.
In this article, I am highlighting a drawing by Matt because I feel he blends humor and art in his cartoon "Minor Differences part 6" ( below), is a perfect example of funny art.
Spoiler alert...This is why it's funny. :)
I literally laughed out loud (LOL) when I saw this. In some cases, the sad reality is, the men's room drawing isn't too far off the mark. Yipes!
I find with any great adventure, the best trips have a loose plan. We knew we had ti be back at a certain time and we had a few spots we really wanted to see. Other than that, we left our trip up to spontaneity!
We also stopped in at the Mystic Aquarium, which to my surprise, was actually pretty cool. There was a decent amount of cool sea animal creatures here!
For instance we saw: Beluga Whales, Sea Lions, Sharks, Jelly Fish, Turtles, Sting Rays, and much more! Yes, I will be incorporating some of these animals into some upcoming animal art projects!
The Smithsonian's National Zoo was a bit of a let down as most of the animals weren't available but the Baltimore Aquarium was amazing and much better than the Mystic Aquarium.
We also went to a couple of art museum's, which was awesome to see some new artists as well as some of the famous artists I look up to.
The trip was a blast and we both enjoyed exploring some parts of the country we haven't visited yet. I also got a ton of inspiration that I am going to use in creating more animal artwork! Most of you know that pictures are worth a thousands words, so here are a few of my favorites from the trip.
Here is our journey captured via some of the photos we took along the way.
I've been creating art in some form or another all my life and it's what I love to do.
I also enjoy playing hockey, good food, beer/wine, music and have having fun with friends and family.
One of my favorite bands right now is Mumford and Sons.
