Recently I have been working on my next children's book. As an artist, visions of what the art for the picture book will look like comes to me easy. Ideas and concepts for new books also come easy to me in a similar manner; I have lots of ideas! However, actually writing the stories and flushing out my ideas usually takes up more of my time. I can flush out an idea and write out a concept, but it doesn't always read or flow well.
I currently have a few picture book ideas that I am working on. The great think about being creative and having all these ideas is deciding what happens and also creating the artwork as well. I see how the illustrations are going to look in my mind and it gets me really excited to write.
Here are some drawings that I finished using watercolors in preparation for upcoming kids books.
What do you think? Do you like what you see?
I created there characters a couple years ago before I had published my first kids book. This happens often, I have ideas that come to me and I will sketch them out and get my ideas down on paper not knowing what I am going to do with the illustrations. Here is one of the original drawings:
I would love to hear your thoughts on my new illustrations. Feel free to send me a note or leave a comment below.
More art coming soon! :)
I've been creating art in some form or another all my life and it's what I love to do.
